Åsa Berggren
Prof. Åsa Berggren is a Professor of Ecology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), whose research spans insect ecology, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable food systems. Her work explores the potential of insects to contribute to circular and regenerative systems, both on Earth and in space. Prof. Berggren investigates how edible insects respond to space-related stressors, including microgravity and radiation, and how they could contribute to bioregenerative life-support systems for long-duration space missions. Through this interdisciplinary research, she connects ecology, food sustainability, and space exploration to address future challenges both on Earth and beyond.
